Hot-Rod Granny... drove a Lincoln Mark VIII. Lots of remarks about a 'Lincoln' on the Drag Strip... it was the only one... now I think there are a few others. It is street worthy if the racing slicks are replaced with regular tires. My husband used to do some pro-racing in his younger days and built winning motors for others cars and boats too. I only started behind the wheel when he decided to use this car as a rehab project to get himself back in shape from 2 earlier strokes. I laughed when he told me what he planned till he put me behind the wheel... then it was serious 'fun' business. I can't do it by myself so I will sell the car. As for jobs, there are few here that pay anything and about 100+/- applicants for each of those. Many companies here laid off or folded and don't seem to want to hire 'seasoned' workers and those that do ... offer bottom line pay and don't usually offer any benefits till you've been there 6mo to a year. Networking is your best bet.

Furthermore, about jobs, good luck finding one, in Ohio, there is nothing that pays anything. Really bad economy here. All big businesses are going elsewhere. You can work, but you might only make $7.00 an hour. LOL I was in mgmt. and the people that worked for me made more than that.

I forgot something, he has been looking for a muscle car in Tenn. Virginia, N. Carolina and that area, we may be headed that way in the near future to look at cars.

Thanks, notretired. I was really busy yesterday and didn't have a chance to post a new puzzle, but it is on there now. That is too neat that you drag race, what kind of car do you drive? My boyfriend and I are really into cars, big time. I am sorry to hear that you have to give it up, it sounds really fun.

The track in Richmond is just a few air-miles from me and I can "watch on TV" and "hear it live" from my family room. So have all the conveniences of home and none of the expense or aggravations of being at the track! I have been doing some 'drag racing' in a car tweaked by my husband and won a second place trophy on first time out. We also collect another second place trophy. One time, he got a bit peeved with me 'cause I was tired and wanted to go home... he thought that I 'red-lighted' on purpose and got bumped from the race. When I'm not behind the wheel, I usually knit, crochet or do word puzzles to pass the time. My husband had a massive stroke so he can no longer participate. And no income means no more racing. Now I need to sell my 'race' car!

I have been to Richmond, Va. 2 or 3 times to see Nascar races, it is my 2nd favorite track, the first being Martinsville, Va. & I have only been to that track once. We're in the same boat, I lost my 28 year job 3-09, due to budget cuts. Also, I learned a long time ago, from one of my bosses, what assume means, but I did guess it right that time by assuming. LOL
